Sol Acting Academy Adult Conservatory is Now Open for Fall Registration!

Sol Acting Academy offers training for the whole actor. If you're just starting out or are a working professional, we have classes that will give you the tools you need.  

One-Day Workshop: 
Realism in Law Enforcement Roles with Phil Duran (Breaking Bad, Missing You, I Heart U, The Righteous and the Wicked)
Saturday, August 24
This class, instructed by a retired law enforcement officer/instructor will give you the cop “experience” you need. From “command presence” to tactical movement, this class has everything you need to make your law enforcement roles realistic. This class is taught by Phil Duran, recently retired from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department, and now working as a local actor with Applause Talent Agency.

9 Week Classes:
Acting Technique 1 with Lee Kitts (Over 30 years experience teaching and directing)
Mondays, August 19-October 14  from 6:00-9:00pm
Acting Technique 1 is a class for all levels of experience from beginning student to working actor. Over 9 weeks students explore a progression of fundamentals which lay out a solid foundation for work on a role. Step by step, students develop valuable tools that direct focus, stimulate imagination, and deepen connection to their fellow players. Students will know “real experience” in performance: a means of stirring authentic emotion, making specific and meaningful choices in preparation, training attention and concentration in the moment and expressing from an instinctive, authentic self.

Acting 101 for Film with Katie Mitchell (Frank, Vegas, The Guest)
Tuesdays, August 20-October 15 from 6:30-8:30pm
This class is designed to give you a strong foundation in what you need to know about auditioning and acting in film and television. Learn how to find auditions, how and when to get an agent, head shots, resumes, the basics of audition technique and etiquette, script breakdown and how to be yourself in the world of the character, as well as essential cold reading techniques. All classes are on camera. The final class includes a meeting with a surprise industry guest who will critique your work and answer all your questions about NM film. Past guests include Kathryn Brink (casting director), Carissa Mitchell (Applause Talent) and Jody Black (A & M).  The perfect class to move from theater to film, and to fine tune your audition technique

Theater Games with Lee Kitts
Wednesdays, August 21-October 16 from 6:30-8:30pm
This class is for actors & non-actors.  Revisit your playful side and stimulate the imagination while learning valuable performance skills through exercises and games. A great way to get your feet wet and energize the spirit! These games promote spontaneity and confidence in your work.
Advanced Acting and Scene Work with Vic Browder (Things People Do, Enemy Way, Longmire, Sweetwater, Resurrection, Sunshine Cleaning)
Thursdays, August 22-October 17 from 6:00-9:00 pm
This class is designed for actors who want to deepen their ability to nail that first take every time. Intensive work on text analysis, character development, connection and commitment make this the perfect class for anyone who is currently working on moving to the next level in their work. The class finishes with an Industry Showcase that attracts film makers, agents, casting directors and theater directors. Acting experience necessary for enrollment.
